Some believe that the name Keyra Agustina cames from the alias 'Keyrá and 'Agus', which she used to publish her photographs in a forum called Web Argentine Forum of Amateurs (FAA). Because she wanted to remain close with her family and friends, she rarely showed her face in the photos and preferred that the attention is focused on her body and, especially, on her butt. Keyra's homemade photos and videos were taken in her own room using a simple webcam.

Keyra began to gain international fame and recognition when her photographs were unloaded and distributed massively through the internet. Many people, including Howard Stern, called her "Best Ass of the Internet" and the "Best Buttock of the year" (2005). In June of that same year, Maxim of Argentina published a special nine page spread about Agustina. Later, under an "exclusive contract" Agustina appeared in the August issue of Maxim U.S.A. All this took place after an conflict Keyra had with a Spanish website whose owners alleged that the photos were false because the face of Keyra never appeared.

While Maxim Argentina referred to her as "Mirna Lavagna", the illegitimate daughter of the Argentinian minister in Guatemala ", others have stated that her true name could be Julieta Machado, Julieta Solecita, or Julieta Cordoba. Supposedly, she studies Systems Engineering at the University of Moron in Laferrere, Gran Buenos Aires, Argentina, although Maxim states that she is a student at the University of Buenos Aires.

This happened after a sort of "exclusive contract" Keyra had with Supertangas, thus the owners of the site alleged that these shots were fake, claiming that her face never appeared in the shots, but forgetting that themselves used to manipulate her Supertangas pictures to erase or simply cut her face off the pictures, because the model didn't want to be recognized by her family, friends or boyfriend
